چکیده

2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is a widely used herbicide for controlling broad-leaved weeds. The development of an efficient process treating the refractory 2,4-D wastewater necessary. In this study, liquid-phase degradation induced by radio frequency discharge (RFD) was studied. Experimental results showed that more effective in acidic than neutral or alkaline solutions. During degradation, large amount hydrogen peroxide (H2O2, 1.2 mM/min, almost equal to without 2,4-D) simultaneously produced, and catalytic effects both ferric (Fe3+) ferrous (Fe2+) ions on were examined compared. It found degraded rapidly case Fe3+ Fe2+. Such scenario explained successively reduced Fe2+ atomic (•H) •OH-adducts resulting from RFD, which turn catalyzed H2O2 form •OH radicals through Fenton’s reaction, indicating not only accelerates rate but also increases available suppressing back reaction between •H •OH. 2,4-dichlorophenol, 4,6-dichlororesorcinol, 2-hydroxy-4-chloro- 2-chloro-4-hydroxy- phenoxyacetic acids, hydroxylated 2,4-Ds, carboxylic acids (glycolic, formic oxalic) identified as byproducts. Energy yields RFD have been compared with those other nonthermal plasma processes.

Sonochemical degradation of azithromycin in aqueous solution

Background: The presence of pharmaceutical substances and their residual in water resources is an important environmental concern. Azithromycin, an antibiotic that is used for the treatment of infectious diseases, is a pollutant agent in the wastewater. The aim of this study was to investigate azithromycin degradation in aqueous solution through ultrasonic process in the presence of zinc oxide ...

Adsorption of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid from Aqueous Solution on Activated Carbon Cloth

This work investigated the adsorption of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) on various activated carbon cloths (ACCs) prepared from a phenolic resin commercially known as Novoloid. Experimental adsorption equilibrium data were obtained in a batch adsorber. The effects of temperature and pH on the adsorption capacity of ACCs were studied and it was found that the adsorption capacity decrease...

Effect of copper ions on the degradation of thiram in aqueous solution: identification of degradation products by HPLC-MS/MS.

The aim of this work was to examine the effect of Cu(II) on the degradation of thiram (Thi) in aqueous solutions, since the literature focused on this effect is scarce and copper based fungicides can be applied together with thiram or during the same season to agricultural crops. The effect of Cu(II) on the degradation of thiram was followed by both UV-vis and HPLC-MS/MS. When thiram is dissolv...

Efficient Fenton like degradation of Methylene blue in aqueous solution by using Fe3O4 nanoparticles as catalyst

Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared hydrothermally and characterized by X-Ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that these nanoparticles can act as an efficient catalyst in the degradation of Methylene blue dye in aqueous solution in a Fenton like system in presence of 30% perhydrol. Uv-Vis spectroscopy was used to determine the concentration of ...
